Position Summary

The Linux Systems Administrator is a hands-on technical operations role responsible for managing, administering and supporting systems spanning the on premise, co-location, and cloud-based hosting environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in production and support system migration to AWS-based hosting environments.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Create and maintain configuration documentation, as well as system and operations runbooks.
• Improve operational state of Linux systems through application and OS updates, configuration improvements, maintenance automation, and performance optimizations.
• Define, prioritize, and resolve all service-related support requests in an organized, efficient and expedited fashion.

Qualifications and Key Skills

• Solid understanding of web application architecture, AWS infrastructure services, data center management and data governance.
• Experience supporting production, customer-facing hosting environments.
• Solid understanding of Linux and the LAMP stack and application resource utilization monitoring.
• Advanced experience with VMware usage and management.
• Experience developing scripts or tools for automating administrative tasks.
• Experience creating and maintaining IT configuration and knowledgebase documentation.
• Basic SQL scripting and operations for querying and reporting.
• Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation.

Working Conditions

• In office work with other IT and development staff.
• Regular collaboration with remote development staff.
• No regular travel required.
